Cynthia Harrell Huston was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and has been passionate about creating art since early childhood. She graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and enjoyed a successful career in telecommunications. While pursuing a livelihood in technology, living and working in many cities around the country, Cynthia would escape her busy, high-tech work-life by painting. She enrolled in painting and drawing classes with local artists as well as at the Art Institute of Kansas City and the University of Houston. Her artistic abilities have developed most recently through the teachings of Laurie Meyer, a well-known Charleston impressionist artist and gallery owner.
Cynthia currently resides in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina and feels extremely blessed to now pursue her love of art and painting full-time. Painting “en plein air” is one of her favorite ways to paint. “When painting outside I feel the energy from everything surrounding me and it breathes life into the paintings!” Whether it is a dramatic sky over the salt marsh, boats in the tidal creek, oyster shells and treasures found on our beaches, or figures walking by the ocean, she looks to capture the beauty of the Low Country with bold brush strokes. Cynthia paints with great emotion and with the hope that by capturing amazing colors mixed with shadows and light, she will draw viewers into an emotional journey with her.
