The foundation of Michelle Owenby's work is deeply rooted in her southern heritage. Influenced by her mother, Michelle has been using my hands + imagination since she was a child to create artful things. Her work often reflects colors + patterns found in nature where she spent much of her childhood with her dad, who was an avid outdoorsman. Michelle enjoys a clean, abstract aesthetic using mainly water-based mediums, paper + natural fibers. Her work is a spiritual release for her that she tries to nurture on a daily basis. Working from her home studio, she finds (sometimes) peaceful and (always) joyful inspiration while surrounded by her beloved husband, 2 growing, lovable boys + her lazy yellow lab, Yeti. Michelle's hope is that she can put, just a smidgen of, the kind of beauty that she has always enjoyed back out into this world. She hopes it can bring a smile, soothe a heart, evoke an emotion, open an eye to the beauty that is everywhere, around us all, if we just squint our eyes a tiny bit. Each of her works is faithfully purposed for peace & happiness + painted by imperfect hands + offered with loving intentions.
