Words from the Artist:

I was pleasantly surprised with how this piece turned out. When using a very tight color palette, it is easy for the colors to become muddied and for the figures to lose their shape and impact. I combatted this possible issue with multiple layers of translucent white to create a difference in value for the same colors. This is best exemplified in the man’s jacket under his arm where the same grey/green color is layered on top of itself. Additionally, I am drawn to the movement at the bottom of the woman’s dress created through slightly tilted lines that suggest her swaying and tipsy movements.
