Lily

18x18 watercolor and gouache painting of a Roselily. Painted on Arches watercolor paper, it is under glass and framed with a thin pewter gray frame. I was drawn to this unusual Lily because of its numerous, very delicate white and pink petals. The petals were almost transparently fragile. It challenged me to try to capture the fragility of it by contrasting the flower against a solid matte background-a contrast of soft and solid.
