Simone Elum is a contemporary artist with a focus on Abstract portraits and figurative art inspired by Faith, Fashion, Nostalgia, and Music. She primarily uses inks and watercolor in her paintings of Women. In her work, she explores the varied emotional landscape of women who struggle with feelings of inadequacy, rejection, and depression while also trying to become more confident, joyful, and accepting of themselves.
While studying Fashion Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Simone took Life Drawing and Fashion Illustration classes which grew her love for and skill in portraiture and figure drawing. She didn't begin painting until 2018 when she bought her first set of inks and began experimenting with the medium.
Simone is originally from the twin isles of Trinidad and Tobago and currently resides in Atlanta, GA. When she is not creating art, Simone enjoys attending live music events, reading a good novel with a cup of tea, or binge-watching period films.
