Did you know that if you take an apple seed and plant it, it will not grow into the variety of apple from which the seed was taken? Instead it will grow into some form of a variety more closely related to original apple trees, which are not super edible. So in order to grow the apple variety that you desire, apple branches must be grafted onto root stock. Another fun fact about apples is that there are upwards of 7,500 varieties of apples world-wide. Quite a few more than the 3-5 we are used to seeing in the grocery store! Apples are an incredible fruit, and I hope you enjoy this painting of them!
