Red Du Monde
Dried Sunnies no. viii
850
24x30"
Acrylic and graphite on cradled wood panel.
Framed in a natural maple wood floater frame.
Last year at the end of the growing season, I brought some sunflowers inside to dry and hung them in my bathroom. This may seem like an odd place to dry sunflower heads, but I have a cat that is a bit mischievous you see. One evening I was brushing my teeth and I looked over and was suddenly struck with awe over how beautiful these dried sunflowers were. I then set out to paint them and to be honest, I don't think I'm done painting them yet even a year later. This is one of my favorite pieces from that first collection of Dried Sunnies, I hope you enjoy it too!
