The Tale of Mother & Baby Swan
300
Dimensions: 8.5"x16"
Watercolor on Heavyweight Textured Paper
Portrait of a mother and baby swan surrounded by waterlilies painted in watercolor. The artist was inspired by the Impressionist style, specifically Claude Monet's painterly style. The idea came to her while spending time in her daughter's nursery which was decorated with swans throughout the room. The mother daughter relationship depicted adds an extra sweetness that would perfectly compliment a nursery. The storybook-like border was inspired by illustrations seen in many classic children's books.
This piece contains three different layers adhered together to give a unique dimensional quality. After painting the design with watercolors, the paper is then cut and the layers are adhered together.
