Sarah Jane Tart on How to Style & Display Art

SO YOU’VE FOUND A PAINTING THAT YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVE, NOW WHAT?

Have you ever hesitated to buy a painting because you don’t know where to put it? I definitely have. Over time, I’ve learned to buy art that makes me happy and figure out where to put it later. But if you’re someone who likes to have a plan, I have four ideas for you about where to display paintings and how to style them in your home!

Four Art Styling Tips:

1. Make a statement with a large painting hung above your bed. (Bonus: Choose a painting that makes you feel at peace to help you relax before bed for a better night’s sleep!)

2. Dress up your furniture by displaying a painting on it! Layer it behind your favorite pottery or with a stack of books. Don’t be scared to add little treasures and memorable pieces, make your styling your own!

3. Add some interest and color to an entry way with artwork. It’s a great conversation starter when you’re entertaining guests!

4. Don’t forget the kitchen! Often our kitchens become completely utilitarian, but they are the heart of the home, so why not give them a little love with original artwork? Smaller paintings look darling sitting on a bar or a floating shelf!
